REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

CPR – Effective January 1, 2004, DPH requires each program to have at least one person on site with current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification approved specifically for Child Care through the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

DID YOU KNOW that every center or early childhood program that employs staff who may come in contact with body fluids as part of their job must have certain training and documents in place in their center or home to protect their employees. This is a federal mandate by the Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Healthy Administration (OSHA). Each year staff must receive training in bloodborne pathogens, Hepatitis, HIV exposure, emergency procedures other than those discussed in a first aid class, use of PPE-personal protective equipment and administrative protocol for your center in case of an exposure. The Federal requirement is not part of DPH licensure but is required by you as an employer. CALL ECETI to have the 2 hour OSHA class delivered to your employees on your site. OSHA kits and the written Exposure Plan which may be customized to your setting to help you meet the administrative requirements of this mandate will be available for purchase.
