The Training Program in Child Development Statewide Initiative (TPCD): a statewide initiative sponsored by the CT Dept. of Social Services and Child Health and Development Institute of Connecticut and administered by CT Charts-A-Course (CCAC). Through this Initiative, ECETI is able to offer 170plus hours of training in this region to those seeking their CDA through non-credit workshops approved by CCAC. Once you obtain your CDA you then convert it to 6 college credits through matriculation at a local community college, as well as take Charter Oak State College (COSC) Pathways Exams to earn additional ECE college credits. |

To Participate You Must:
- BE CURRENTLY EMPLOYED as a provider, aide, teacher, substitute, etc. within the TPCD priority groups:
- Priority 1: DSS State funded centers, current CCAC Accreditation Facilitation Project sites; School Readiness programs;
- Priority 2: Head Start programs; family child care providers; and Family, Friend and Neighbor; OR, Be a New Recruit in the field of early childhood education who volunteers in a NAEYC Accredited DSS Funded program
- AND NOT HAVE enrolled in or participated in any previous TPCD training WITHOUT obtaining written permission from CCAC
- AND NOT HAVE any prior college based training, a CDA credential or a degree in Early Childhood Education WITHOUT obtaining written permission from CCAC
- BECOME A MEMBER of the CCAC Registry – https://www.ccacregistry.org/ (employment to be verified by employer)
- AGREE TO COMPLETE the CDA process and take the Pathways Exams as scheduled by ECETI to acquire 12 ECE credits AND sign a contract with ECETI that states the same

Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) Basics: Candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma, (OR obtain a waiver from the Council for Professional Recognition),
- Be able to speak, read and write ENGLISH well enough to fulfill all requirements
- Sign a statement of ethical conduct.
- Work in a setting that is licensed or legally exempt from licensing in the state of CT.

Additionally To Apply For A CDA, The Candidate Must:
- Complete the TPCD hours of education covering the CDA prescribed areas
- Have 480 hours work experience in the age group for their CDA, i.e. Preschool, Infant/Toddler, Family Child Care.
- Create a Professional Resource File (autobiography, competency statements, resource materials as outlined),
- Have parents in the program fill out Parent Opinion Questionnaires,
- Take part in a Formal Observation by a CDA Advisor in the Candidate’s classroom as the lead caregiver
- And complete a formal Early Childhood Studies Review and Oral Interview by a CDA Representative.

Module Training: The TPCD training is broken into 4 Modules. Modules 1 and 4 contain 30 hours each, and Modules 2 and 3 are 45 hours each, totaling 150 hours. In addition to the TPCD strand and woven in throughout the workshop schedule, ECETI incorporates workshops to assist the participants with CDA documentation preparation and testing. ECETI ends the TPCD training, incorporating Study Groups for the Pathways Exams for ECE 101 (Intro to Early Childhood Education) and Child Developmental Psychology. |

Module Fees have been determined by the sponsoring agency and are the same statewide: Module training is billed at a cost of $20 for each Module for a total of $80 and is the responsibility of the individual and must be paid prior to the start of training. |

CDA Fees: The current CDA Assessment fee is $325.00 per person. ECETI charges $225.00 per person for CDA Advisor fees. CCAC will cover these costs if the individual is within the priority group and funding is available.

Charter Oak Pathways Exams Fees: Currently the registration fee is $75.00 per exam. Again, CCAC will cover these costs if the individual is within the priority group and funding is available. |

Participants must meet eligibility requirements for reduced funding. The current prices are dependent upon available funding and are subject to change at any time.

Additional Module Training:
ECETI also offers additional CCAC Module training that allows participants who have completed the TPCD to complete specialized Modules:
Specialized Infant/Toddler Strand – training designed for caregivers of children aged birth to 36 months. COSC offers the Infant/Toddler Pathways Exam at a cost of $75.00 per person.
Inclusive Child Care Strand – training to assist caregivers working with children with special needs.
Language and Literacy Strand – training to assist caregivers in providing appropriate experiences for the children in their care to help promote language and literacy in all ages. COSC offers the Language and Literacy Pathways Exam at a cost of $75.00 per person. |

Fees for all specialized strands and corresponding COSC Pathways Exams is dependent on available funding.
